Yesterday, Disney+ quietly rolled out a pre-released of their streaming service in the Netherlands. Customers were able to download the App on Android devices, but now the company has extended it to iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, PS4, and Xbox. For those who install the app, Dutch subscribers will enjoy free access to the service until the official launch on November 12th.
The early release is nearly full-featured with one exception — it doesn’t include any Disney+ Originals. When the service officially launches, customers will get access to originals like The Mandalorian, High School Musical: The Musical The Series, and The World According to Jeff Goldblum. At least during the test, the content is “limited” to Disney’s library of content from Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, Nat Geo, and the Disney.
All of the apps, feature a similar and consistent layout and visual appearance. Last month, we able to get a walkthrough of the Disney+ Apple TV app, which has the elegance and beauty that you would expect from Disney. The app is straight-forward, snappy, and has incredible imagery throughout.
On top of the Disney+ app, there is a carousel of featured content, with animated tiles for each of Disney’s properties below. Tapping on a tile takes you to an exclusive experience designed for that content, like Pixar or Marvel. When you’re in an individual section, you can see featured shows and movies, as well as personalized recommendations based on your watch history.
