FilmStruck Shuts Down, but You Can Become a Criterion Charter Member Starting Today

AT&T-owned WarnerMedia officially shut down today, despite a campaign to save the service by Hollywood elite Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, Barbra Streisand, Christopher Nolan and more.

The streaming service which was managed by Turner Classic Movies focused on arthouse, indie, and foreign films. One of the big draws to the service was the inclusion of films from The Criterion Collection like Muholland Drive, 12 Angry Men, and Dr. Strangelove for $10.99 a month.

Today, The Criterion Collection team announced that they will launching a streaming service in the U.S. and Canada in Spring 2019.

To prepare for the service’s launch, they announced that you can sign-up for free to become a Charter Subscriber which will get you benefits when the service launches.

  • Reduced subscription fee of $10 a month or $90 a year (normally $11/month or $100/year)

In the meantime, if you want to watch The Criterion Collection, we suggest using the service Kanopy. The service will give you free access to the films with your library card from a participating library or university.
