Sitcoms were a big deal for many young adults growing in the ’90s. So it’s no surprise that “Friends” defined this period for millions of Americans. The show started in 1994 as a simple sitcom about six friends living and working in New York. The show would go on for 10 seasons and end in 2004, when the series finale received 52.5 million viewers.
Since then, fans have often wanted to rewatch the show, and for a time, Netflix was the only streaming service where you could binge it. But with the release of HBO Max on May 27, fans will now need to subscribe to the new service to stream episodes.

All 10 seasons of “Friends,” 236 episodes in total, will be available on HBO Max on May 27. A “Friends” reunion special was also planned around the release date of HBO Max. However, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the event. WarnerMedia Entertainmet-Direct-to-Consumer chairman Bob Greenblatt said he hoped the special could complete filming by the end of summer.

How Much Does HBO Max Cost?
HBO Max is $15 a month, the same price as HBO and HBO Now. All AT&T, DirecTV and HBO Now customers will get it right away. People who get HBO through their cable company will have to wait until HBO Max makes new deals with their provider.
WarnerMedia also recently sealed distribution deals with seven partners — Altice USA, Cox Communications, Microsoft Xbox, Samsung, Sony PlayStation, Verizon and the National Cable Television Cooperative — to carry HBO Max when it launches. This was in addition to the deals the company has already sealed with Charter, Hulu, YouTube TV and Apple TV.
As it stands, the company doesn’t have any deals with only three other major distributors: Comcast, Amazon and Roku.
