The Winter Classic is an outdoor NHL game that takes place every year on New Year’s Day. The game’s locations change every year and this year the event takes its first-ever trip down south. The Predators and Stars are the 12th and 13th NHL teams to participate in the Classic since it started back in 2008.
The Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres were the first teams to play in the Winter Classic, while the Chicago Blackhawks lead the league in Winter Classic appearances with four (most recently in 2019), and the Boston Bruins, New York Rangers and the Washington Capitals are tied for most Winter Classic wins with two each.
