Stay in and Sling: Fox News and Select Local Affiliates Join Free Sling TV Initiative

Stephanie Sengwe

Amid the coronavirus outbreak, companies across the nation have been doing their part to incentivize people to stay indoors. Sling TV has joined the efforts with their “Stay in and Sling” initiative, which offers free access to news and entertainment to customers.

The Sling TV free experience, which launched yesterday, includes news from ABC News Live, Fox News and local Fox affiliates in 18 markets, including New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Houston, Phoenix, Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Fox News and certain Fox broadcast stations will remain a part of “Stay in and Sling’ temporarily.

Customers can download the Sling TV free experience for their Roku, Amazon or Android devices. Once downloaded, click “Browse as Guest” or “Try Sling Free” to begin watching. Users can also access the program via web browser by visiting and following the instructions on the welcome screen. The Sling TV free experience is currently not available on iOS devices.

Users already subscribed to Sling TV can access the free content from within the user interface on any Sling TV-supported device without altering their subscription. Former subscribers may need to click on “Rent Movies” and navigate to My TV to access the Sling TV free experience.

Sling is also currently offering $10 off for the first month to customers who sign up for Sling Orange or Sling Blue. The latter usually goes for $30 per month and includes local Fox and NBC channels in select major markets. While the service is still without Fox Regional Sports Networks, Sling added Fox News, MSNBC and HLN as part of the $30 plan.
