Steven Spielberg’s ‘Amazing Stories’ Launches on Apple TV+ Today

Apple TV+ is rebooting Steven Spielberg’s Emmy-winning “Amazing Stories” today. The anthology series, costing an estimated $5 million an episode, is executive produced by Spielberg and Edward Kitsis & Adam Horowitz, the duo who wrote/produced for “Lost” and created “Once Upon a Time.”

The first of five episodes, “The Cellar” tackles time travel and features Dylan O’Brien (“Teen Wolf”), Victoria Pedretti (“The Haunting of Hill House”) and Sasha Alexander (“Rizzoli & Isles”).

“Amazing Stories” is produced by Universal Television and Amblin Television. Spielberg is also directing two movies: “West Side Story” will premiere on Dec. 18, while “Indiana Jones 5” is scheduled for a July 9, 2021 release.

In addition to “Amazing Stories,” Apple TV+ launches “Home” in its entirety on April 17. The 10-episode docu-series and official SXSW 2020 selection zeros in on stunning architecture and design and the creators of these singular efforts.

The episodes showcase “Domestic Transformer” (China, Gary Chang), “Sharma Springs” (Bali, Elora Hardy), “Naturhus” (Sweden; Anders Solvarm), “Listening House” (Chicago, Theaster Gates), “Edgeland House” (Austin, Christopher Brown), “Wall House” (India, Anupama Kundoo), “Xanabu” (Malibu, David Hertz), “Soot House” (Maine; Anthony Esteves) and “The 3D Printed Home” (Mexico, Brett Hagler and Alexandria Lafci).

“Home” is directed by Matt Tyrnauer, who directed the documentaries “Where’s My Roy Cohn?” and “Valentino: The Last Emperor.”

Also debuting next month is “Defending Jacob,” a drama based on the novel by William Landay. The first three episodes of the family drama will screen on April 24. Chris Evans (“Avengers: Endgame”), Pablo Schreiber (“Wire,” “American Gods”) and Michelle Dockery (“Downton Abbey”) star.

Apple TV+ reportedly spent more than $6 billion on content before its November 2019 launch.
