The Week in Review

Harry Potter Franchise Leaving HBO Max in August
Harry Potter fans got a sweet surprise the first time they opened HBO Max after its May 27 launch: all eight of the franchise’s films were available on the platform. But films will be leaving the platform on Aug. 25.

NBCUniversal owns the rights to all eight movies in a deal that spans 2016-2025, which begs the question: could Peacock, which also announced it would be losing some big-name films in July, be Harry Potter’s next home?

AT&T TV NOW Adds RSNs You Could Never Stream Before
Despite a new multi-year with Comcast, Sinclair has struggle to maintain carriage in streaming.

Fox Sports RSNs are now only available on Hulu Live TV ($55) and AT&T TV NOW ($80), after being available on all major services.

But the good news, as Sinclair is leaving streaming services, some some MLB, NBA, and NHL teams that were never previously available to stream in your local market now are.

AT&T has confirmed to The Streamable that they have added six new Regional Sports Networks: NESN, AT&T SportsNet Southwest, AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh, AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain, ROOT Sports Northwest, and MASN. The latter four channels have never been available as part of a Live TV Streaming Service.

Plex Adds Live TV, 80+ Free Linear Channels
Plex continues to transform into a viable free streaming option.

The app best known for streaming personal media announced it is adding free ad-supported live TV to its platform with the addition of over 80 channels.

Unlike some other free ad-supported services that are available in select markets, most of the channels on Plex will be available globally.

Philo Becomes First Live TV Streaming Service to Carry ‘TV One’
Philo’s lineup, which has 60-plus channels, will now include TV One’s inventory of series, movies and music geared to a Black audience.

Shows include “Unsung,” “Uncensored, “ATL Homicide” and “Fatal Attraction.” The channel is expected to be available on the live TV streaming service in the coming weeks.

How to Watch Marquee Sports Network Without Cable
Every Cubs game this season will be streamed on Marquee Sports Network. This is how you can stream it even if you don’t have cable or satellite.

MLB Network is Now Available to Stream on fuboTV
In March, fuboTV reached a deal to bring NHL Network and MLB Network to their Sports Plus ($11) and Extra ($6) add-ons. NHL Network went live soon-after, but MLB Network was delayed with the late-start to the baseball season due to COVID-19.

DAZN Cancels MLB Whiparound Show “ChangeUp”
DAZN will no longer air their MLB Whiparound show “ChangeUp,” which was hosted by Adnan Virk and Scott Rogowsky, The Streamable has learned. The show, which launched ahead of the 2019 MLB season, was a live look-in show most similar to the NFL RedZone channel.
