At tonight’s 76th Golden Globes Awards, Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu went head-to-head to see which streaming company would come up on top. Coming into the night, Netflix led all streamers with 13 nominations, followed by Amazon with 10, and Hulu with two. While Netflix earned the most overall nominations, Amazon received one more TV Series nomination.
Of the streaming companies, Netflix won the most awards with six Golden Globes, while Amazon received two Golden Globe awards. Hulu did not win either of their nominations for The Handmaid’s Tale.
Netflix’s awards went to The Kominsky Method for Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy and it’s lead actor Michael Douglas (The Kominsky Method) for Best Actor in Television Series - Comedy. Richard Madden (Bodyguard) for Best Actor in Television Series - Drama and Regina King (Seven Seconds) for Best Actress in a Limited Series also won for the streaming giant.
Their big winner was Netflix-film, Roma. The film won Best Motion Picture - Foreign Language and Roma’s director Alfonso Cuarón won Best Director, Motion Picture.
Amazon’s two awards went to Ben Whishaw (A Very English Scandal) for Best Supporting Actor in Limited Series and Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) for Best Actress in Television Series - Comedy.
