Katharine McPhee Headlines Netflix Comedy ‘Country Comfort’
Katharine McPhee has signed on to star in Netflix’s “Country Comfort,” a 10-episode series. McPhee (“Smash,” “Scorpio”) plays a struggling country singer who becomes a nanny to a cowboy’s five musical kids. Eddie Cibrian (“Take Two,” “Rosewood”) plays the children’s father.
Bailey, McPhee’s character, uses her Southern charm to handle various family dynamics. She also forms a band with the talented brood to re-start her musical career.
The TV series will be the first for McPhee since CBS’ “Scorpio” ended in 2018. She recently starred on Broadway in the musical “Waitress,” with music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles.
Carlyn Lucas (“Miss Congeniality,” “The Nanny”) will do triple duty as writer-showrunner-executive producer, while Kelly Hart (“Family Reunion, “Alexa & Katie,” two Netflix shows) will direct.
Netflix also announced it has signed Adam Sandler to four more movies. He co-starred with Jennifer Aniston in the streamer’s popular comedy “Murder Mystery.” Sarah Shahi (“Reverie”) is also headed to Netflix for the eight-episode dramedy “Sex/Life.” She plays a suburban mom who wants to jump-start a single, sexier version of herself.
Other Netflix family comedies include “Atypical” and “Prince of Peoria.”
