The mobile platform Quibi is gobbling up shows for its April debut. Its latest is a dance competition series “Floored,” which will be hosted by Liza Koshy.
Unlike typical dance shows, this one has a distinct twist. Two teams of dancers master a routine, but dance it out on a moving dance floor that can lift, shake and spin in time to the music. The challenge is to combine artistry and lightning-quick maneuvers to determine the winner.
Koshy, the star of the YouTube series “Liza on Demand,” says she ready to “celebrate and scream for the fearless, the focused and the flexible.”
No stranger to hosting, Koshy handled two seasons of Nickelodeon’s “Double Dare” relaunch. She’s also in Netflix’s “Work It,” an original film starring Sabrina Carpenter. Other acting credits include Hulu’s “Freakish” and Tyler Perry’s “BOO! A Madea Halloween.”
“Floored” aims to highlight the athleticism of dancers, though Michael Agbabian, executive producer, promises it will “turn the dance genre on its head.”
Quibi also announced this week it added “Killing Zac Efron” to its content library. In addition, Lionsgate landed a series order for an updated version of “Swimming With Sharks,” a look at the darker side of Hollywood execs and their minions.
