Netflix Reveals Top 10 List For First Time, These Are What Streamers Are Bingeing

Reality Show “Love is Blind” and Affleck/Hathaway Film “The Last Thing He Wanted” Take Top Spots

Netflix announced today the addition of a brand new popular list that shows the Top Overall, Top Movies, and Top TV Shows on the service. This comes after testing the feature in Mexico and the UK for the last six months.

You will see the Top Overall, which is currently led by reality show “Love is Blind”, on the home screen, while Top Shows and Movies can be accessed through their individual tabs. The shows and movies will also feature a “Top 10” tag throughout the Netflix interface

Of the Top 10 TV shows, only two are not Netflix Originals including “Better Call Saul” and “Friends.” Currently in the top movie is “The Last Thing He Wanted”, the Anne Hathaway and Ben Affleck thriller, which was released on the service last week. Of the Top 10 Overall shows and movies, it’s split between five films and five TV shows.

A Netflix spokesperson told Variety that the daily rankings are calculated by “tallying the number of member accounts that watched a given title for at least 2 minutes over the previous 24 hours.” Because of this, it is extremely sensitive to those shows and movies that have been recently released, rather than showing what is most popular on the service over a longer period of time.

Whether you love books, music, films or TV, top 10 lists are a great way to find out what’s popular. So today we’re rolling out a new Top 10 feature on Netflix.

This new row - complete with its own special design - will enable you to see what is most popular on Netflix in your country. It will be updated every day and the position of the row will vary depending on how relevant the shows and films are to you.

In addition to the overall top 10 list, you’ll also be able to see the top 10 most popular series and top 10 films when you click on the movies and TV shows tabs.

Shows and films that make these lists will also have a special “Top 10” badge, wherever they appear on Netflix. That way you can easily see what’s in the zeitgeist, whether you’re browsing by genre or through your personal list - or when searching for specific shows or films.
