Netflix’s “The Last Days of American Crime” has found itself in an elite club of the wrong kind. The film has become one of only 43 films that have gotten a zero percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, according to Variety, meaning “none of the 26 critical reviews tabulated by the site were positive.”
Released on June 5, the film follows a career criminal as he goes on a mission to commit the last crime in America before the government releases a signal disabling citizens from knowingly committing unlawful acts. With the current state of affairs in the country, it’s safe to say the film’s scenes of police brutality and other forms of unnecessary violence have contributed to its low critics score.
The film seems to be doing a bit better with audiences, however, even though the numbers are still not stellar. “The Rotten Tomatoes audience score for ‘The Last Days of American Crime,’ meanwhile, is currently 27 percent (based on 198 user ratings), which is the percentage of users who rated it 3.5 stars (out of 5) or higher,” Variety reports.
Despite scoring so low on Rotten Tomatoes, “The Last Days of American Crime” is currently one of the streamer’s most popular films. However, those metrics are generated based on how many accounts have watched at least two minutes of a program in the last 24 hours. This means its top ranking doesn’t necessarily mean the film is resonating with audiences, but “users are simply checking out a few minutes of ‘The Last Days of American Crime’ to see if it’s really as bad as critics have painted it,” Variety noted.
