Amazon to Add Dolby Atoms, HDMI Switching and Far-Field Voice Control to Fire TV Edition for Soundbars

In September, Amazon and Anker partnered to launch the Nebula Soundbar — the first Fire TV Edition soundbar. Today, the company has expanded with two new soundbar devices from TCL — TCL Alto 8+ Soundbar and TCL TS8011 Soundbar.

According to Amazon, the soundbars are designed to support premium acoustic performance, with carefully tuned speaker drivers and support for Dolby Digital Plus producing clear, dynamic and immersive sound.

As part of the announcement, Amazon confirmed that later this year they will add many features that come in their Fire TV Cube device to Fire TV Edition for Soundbar. That means Dolby Atmos support, device control, HDMI switching, and far-field voice control, along with custom features for different soundbar partners.

Last fall, Roku also debuted their soundbar and wireless subwoofer. Unlike Amazon who has partnered with third-parties to create the devices, Roku’s soundbars are manufactured and sold by Roku. At CES, Roku this morning announced a program to simplify connecting and managing third-party soundbar devices to your Roku TV.
