Amazon to Reboot ‘The Kids in the Hall’ Comedy Series

“The Kids in the Hall,” the popular comedy series that ran in the early 1990s, is making a comeback — on Amazon Prime Video.

The new eight-episode show will feature the original Canadian cast — Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson — and some of their favorite characters, such as Chicken Lady, Idiot Boy, Buddy Cole and the Axe Murderer.

To keep the show fresh, they’re slated to play new characters, as well.

“Saturday Night Live” creator Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video will executive produce.

“Even after 30 years, ‘The Kids in the Hall’ has retained its brilliance and originality,” said Michaels.

Dave Foley tweeted: “We are already busy writing our unique horrible brand of sketch comedy.”

The show originally aired on HBO in 1989, later moving to CBS in 1993. The Kids made one film, “Brain Candy,” which was released in 1996. They reformed for various tours and comedy festivals in 2000. They later reunited for an eight-part miniseries, “Death Comes to Town,” in January 2010.

“The Kids in the Hall” will be the first Canadian Amazon Original series.
