How to Watch the 2020 Season Finale of ‘American Idol’ Live Online on Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, iOS and Android

COVID-19 may have altered how this year’s “American Idol” season finale will be filmed as contestants sing from home, but the show must go on. The final episode airs live on ABC on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.

How to Watch the 2020 Season Finale of ‘American Idol’

Sunday night’s finale will immediately kick into high gear as the top seven dwindles to five and two contestants have to end their journeys. The contestants left after the vote will sing two songs each — one celebrating their spot in the top 5 and a previously performed song. After last Sunday’s episode, the remaining contestants were Just Sam, Louis Knight, Francisco Martin, Julia Gargano, Arthur Gunn, Dillon James and Jonny West.

The night will also see the return of the top 11 and a “fan favorite from this season,” Billboard noted. Lionel Richie will also lead a special performance of “We Are the World,” performing the song on TV for the first time in 35 years. Richie will be joined by fellow judges Katy Perry and Luke Bryan, as well as former “Idol” contestants Alejandro “Scarypoolparty” Aranda, Gabby Barrett, Jordin Sparks, Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, Laine Hardy, Lauren Alaina, Phillip Phillips, Ruben Studdard and Scotty McCreery.

Cynthia Erivo will shut down the night with a medley of Aretha Franklin songs, and two-time Idol contestant Lauren Daigle will sing her hit “You Say.” The Rascal Flatts and Doug Kiker will perform “Bless the Broken Road,” and Bryan will perform his single “One Margarita.” Katy Perry will debut her upcoming single, “Daisies.”
