This year’s Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show comes to an end tonight with seven doggies competing for the best in show title. The event is taking place at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Currently running for its 144th year, the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is the second-oldest sporting event in the country, following the Kentucky Derby horse race, according to Reuters.
This year’s best in show event will see three finalists from breeds in the terrier, sporting and working groups competitions face off against those in the hound, non-sporting, herding and toy groups. A Havanese, a standard poodle, a Shetland sheepdog and a whippet are among some of the breeds competing tonight.
“This year’s competition saw over 2,600 dogs representing 204 breeds and varieties, including six Azawakhs in the breed’s first year of WKC competition,” stated the American Kennel Club.
