About The Voice
The Voice season 21 will bring back many familiar faces. Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Blake Shelton will all return as judges, and Carson Daly will be back in hosting duties. Joining the competition as a new judge this year will be Grammy Award winner Ariana Grande.
The show’s format will also feature several familiar touches. The show remains split into four stages, the Blind Audition, the Battle Round, the Knockout, and the Live Performance Shows. Judges begin the Blind Auditions in chairs facing away from the singer, with only the singer’s voice to guide their decision. The judges then select which artist they want to work with. If more than one judge selects the artist, the artist can then select which judge they prefer to work with from there.
A wrinkle returning this season as well is the block. With the block, the individual judges can prevent each other from making a selection in a certain round during the Blind Audition phase.
The competition continues until the Live Performance Shows phase, where the top artists from the preceding phases compete for a television audience, who then selects their favorites accordingly. Ultimately, one artist remains — and is offered a recording contract at the conclusion of the season.
