Kevin Hart, ‘Swimming With Sharks’ and ‘Most Dangerous Game’ Added to Quibi’s Lineup

Mobile platform Quibi has announced its latest content additions.

They include “Swimming With Sharks,” an update of the 1994 George Huang film, which exposed the cruelty of the Hollywood studio system. In this version, Lou (Kiernan Shipka, “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” “Mad Men”) works for a female studio head (Diane Kruger, “Inglourious Basterds,” “In the Fade.”)

The studio is filled with schemers and manipulators, but Lou is up to the challenge. Thomas Dekker, Finn Jones and Donald Sutherland have been added to the cast.

Kruger will next be seen in Universal’s “355” opposite Jessica Chastain and Lupita Nyong’o.

Kevin Hart, fresh off of Netflix’s six-part documentary “Don’t F—k This Up,” will star in the Quibi comedy “Die Hart.” Playing a fictional version of himself, Hart gets a chance to be an action star, which means getting trained by a lunatic coach (John Travolta, “Pulp Fiction). Hart is also pushed by a rival student (Nathalie Emmanuel, “Game of Thrones.)

“Die Hart” will be directed by comedy vet Eric Appel (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”). Emmanuel will next appear in the ninth installment of “Fast & Furious.”

Also up, “Gone Mental With Lior” follows famed Israeli mentalist Lior Suchard as he enters the minds of various celebrities. Episodes will include James Corden (“The Late Late Show), Zooey Deschanel (“New Girl”), Ben Stiller (“Meet the Fockers”) and football star Rob Gronkowski.

ViacomCBS will reboot the MTV show “Punk’d” specifically for Quibi. In a blog post, the company said “Punk’d” will be joined by Comedy Central’s “Reno 911,” CBS News’ “60 in 6,” Awesomeness TV’s “One Night Forever” and Paramount Television Studios’ “Varsity Blues.” ViacomCBS’ Nickelodeon has also licensed “Legends of the Hidden Temple,” the kids’ game show to the streamer.

“Most Dangerous Game,” a movie in chapters, will star Liam Hemsworth (“Neighbors”) and Christoph Waltz (“Inglourious Basterds”). The story concerns a terminally ill man desperate to care for his pregnant wife. To help her, he decides to participate in a deadly game where he becomes the prey. Phil Abraham (“The Sopranos”) directs.

Quibi has also released the “Stranger” trailer. The thriller is about an Uber driver (Maika Monroe, “The Guest”) threatened by a Hollywood Hills passenger (Dane DeHaan, “Chronicle”). A terrifying ride through Los Angeles’ underbelly follows. The series was written-directed by Veena Sud (“The Lie,” The Killing”).

The streamer previously announced several shows, including the upcoming thriller “Survive.”

Quibi launches April 6, costing $4.99 per month for ad-supported streaming and $7.99 for the ad-free service.
