Spike Lee’s “Da 5 Bloods” debuts on Netflix June 12, reports Variety. The trailer was released today.
Lee’s (“BlacKkKlansman,” “Do The Right Thing”) latest film revolves around four African American Vietnam vets — Paul (Delroy Lindo), Otis (Clarke Peters), Eddie (Norm Lewis) and Melvin (Isiah Whitlock, Jr.).
The quartet returns to Vietnam to find the remains of their squad leader (Chadwick Boseman), as well as search for gold.
Mélanie Thierry, Paul Walter Hauser, Jasper Pääkkönen, Johnny Trí Nguyễn, Van Veronica Ngo and Jean Reno round out the cast.
Last year, Lee won an Oscar for the “BlacKkKlansman” adapted screenplay.
The streamer also announced two deals for upcoming movies. The first, the superhero flick “Ball and Chain,” stars Emily Blunt (“Mary Poppins”) and Dwayne Johnson (“Jumanji: The Next Level”). The premise is of the rom-com variety. Both husband and wife have superpowers — but they spring into action when they are together.
In addition, Mark Wahlberg landed a seven-figure deal at Netflix for “Our Man From Jersey.” He’s been positioned as a blue-collar secret agent.
