ViacomCBS Adds 70 Shows to CBS All Access as Part of Rebrand, Price to Remain the Same

Stephanie Sengwe

ViacomCBS’ relaunch of CBS All Access is officially underway as the company has added 70 shows with more than 3,500 episodes to the streaming platform. BET’s “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” MTV’s “Laguna Beach,” Nickelodeon’s “SpongeBob SquarePants” and Comedy Central’s “Chappelle’s Show” are available today and more shows are expected to rollout over the next six months (a full list is below).

In addition to the library shows, the streaming service has also begun to roll-out a revamped user interface that will include advanced recommendations, curated homepages and new content categories.

“Today marks the beginning of an exciting evolution of CBS All Access into the subscription streaming home for ViacomCBS and a preview of what’s to come,” said Marc DeBevoise, Chief Digital Officer, ViacomCBS and president and Chief Executive Officer, ViacomCBS Digital.

One of the more alluring points of the new service is the fact that though it’s getting additional content —relaunching in early 2021 with 30,000 TV episodes and movies from the company’s library — the pricing will remain the same at $5.99 for the ad-supported version and $9.99 for the ad-free version. This puts the service in direct competition with the other streamers — Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Peacock and Hulu.

How to Get a Free Month of CBS All Access

CBS All Access is giving away a One Month Free Trial of CBS All Access Ad-Free Plan (normally $9.99 a Month) with a special promo code until August 16th. After that you can still get a 7-Day Free Trial.

  • Click here to activate the deal
  • Apply Coupon Code: PLAY at Checkout until August 16th
  • You will get your first month free of either plan

The platform also comes with a bit of an added advantage. Unlike Peacock and HBO Max, CBS All Access is already available on Amazon Fire TV and Roku, which means the service is not expected to get into any entanglements with the two companies regarding distribution.

In addition to library content, the new service will also launch original programming, including season three of “Star Trek: Discovery,” coming on Oct. 15, “Kamp Koral,” a spinoff from “SpongeBob SquarePants,” and it will also be the exclusive streaming home of “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run.” Both SpongeBob spinoffs will debut in 2021.

The new service will also feature live TV programming, including Super Bowl LV, the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship, the PGA Tour, the Masters and the PGA Championship, SEC on CBS, National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), Hockey East as well as entertainment programming, including the Grammys, the Country Music Awards, the Tonys and more.

News of the new ViacomCBS offering was confirmed during the company’s Q1 2020 earnings in May. CEO Bob Bakish revealed the company was “accelerating plans” for “an expanded subscription service.” While most services specialize exclusively in video-on-demand, the new streamer will deliver both live and on-demand news and sports programming through CBS’ 200 affiliate networks.
