Apple TV+ Developing Limited Series on WeWork

WeWork has a dramatic backstory — and it’s being developed into a limited series at Apple TV+.

The show will be based on the Wondery podcast “WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork,” with “Little America” co-creator Lee Eisenberg set to executive produce and co-write with Drew Crevello, who produced “Tomb Raider,” reports Variety.

The podcast chronicles the company’s roller-coaster ride under high-flying CEO Adam Neumann. The startup was co-founded in 2010 by Neumann, Rebekah Neumann and Miguel McKelvey. But by 2019, massive layoffs, as well as financial losses and dubious business practices, haunted the company.

Due to Neumann’s extravagance and the damning stories about WeWork, a proposed IPO was nixed in 2019. Though Neumann was forced out of the company late last year, he received a record $1.7 billion severance package, per Recode. At the same time, half of WeWork employees feared layoffs. As of last October, the company employed 14,000 people.

Wondery’s Hernan Lopez, Marshall Lewy and Aaron Hart will also serve as executive producers on the limited-series adaptation.

Apple TV+ isn’t the only entity intrigued by the Neumann-We Work saga.

No network or streaming service is attached yet to the untitled effort from Chernin Entertainment and Endeavor, which stars Nicholas Braun (“Succession”) as Neumann. The script is based on the upcoming book “You’re the Worst” by Wall Street Journal reporters Eliot Brown and Maureen Farrell.
