HBO Max is set for a May 27 kickoff. While the streamer has a smaller library than Disney+, it still supplies fan favorites.
There will also be staggered debuts of original shows and movies, including Seth Rogen’s comedic film “An American Pickle.” According to HBO Max, Rogen stars as “a struggling laborer” in 1920 who “falls into a vat of pickles and is brined for 100 years.” Rogen’s character then finds himself in present day Brooklyn.
Separately, the streamer is rebooting the 1986 ABC comedy “Head of the “Class.” Amy Pocha and Seth Cohen, the “American Vandal” writers, will handle script duties and act as co-showrunners. The original show centered on a group of gifted Manhattan high-school students.
