Neil Daniels

At today’s WarnerMedia Day, AT&T announced that their premium SVOD service HBO Max has three new projects in the works. These projects include DC Super Hero High from Elizabeth Banks, Rap Sh*t (working title) from Issa Rae and College Girls (working title) from Mindy Kaling.

Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max said “Elizabeth Banks, Issa Rae and Mindy Kaling are three of the most gifted women in our industry, and are now bringing their impressive, original projects to HBO Max.”

  • DC Super Hero High is a comedy series follows a group of students experiencing the fun and drama of adolescence at a boarding school for gifted kids.
  • Rap Sh*t (working title) is a comedy series that follows a female rap group from outside of Miami trying to make it in the music industry.
  • College Girls (working title) is a comedy series following three 18-year-old freshman roommates at Evermore College in Vermont.

In addition to this, HBO Max will include 10,000 hours of programming at launch in May, including the entire HBO service and library, a large offering of new original content, and a slate of acquired & library programming (Friends, Big Bang Theory, Sesame Street).

First announced by Warner Media in July, HBO Max details are finally breaking today at Warner Media Day. The streaming service will be launching in May 2020. They’ve also confirmed that AT&T and DirecTV subscribers will pay the same price for HBO Max as HBO.

When it launches, they will offer a bundle of AT&T TV and HBO Max, while in 2021 AT&T plans to launch an ad-supported version of HBO Max.
