It’s a numbers game — and Hulu counts the most reality shows among streamers. As of June 1, it had 265 programs, according to Reelgood.
Conversely, Netflix has 180 reality shows, while AVOD Tubi weighed in with 135.
But in analyzing the data, Business Insider found that less can be more. Hulu has more shows; but Netflix boasts the most popular reality show — “Too Hot to Handle” — per Reelgood users, during the March 15 – May 31 period.
Hulu, however, was close behind, in second and third place, respectively, with “Survivor” and “The Masked Singer.”
Netflix also did well with “Love Is Blind,” which came in at No. 4 in the time frame.
Per Reelgood, six of its top 10 reality programs are on Hulu, three are on Netflix (originals) and Amazon Prime Video has the remaining two.
The report also notes the numbers switch when it comes to original series. Netflix’s true-crime docuseries “Tiger King” did big business for the streamer. In fact, Netflix boasts 383 such shows, versus its nearest competitor, Amazon Prime Video, with 255. Bringing up the rear is Hulu, with 222 docuseries.
