Hulu Will No Longer Support Older Roku Models (Pre-2015) Starting on June 24th

Some Roku users were notified today that older devices will no longer be able to stream Hulu starting on June 24th, 2020. Users of the Roku Streaming Player (models 2400 to 3100) and Roku Streaming Stick (model 3420 or earlier), use the outdated “Classic Hulu App”, which does not work with premium add-ons or Live TV, which is being discontinued on those devices.

Going forward, only those Roku devices that can use the latest Hulu app and Roku firmware 8.1 can continue using Hulu on their Roku device. The good news is that covers every Roku device created after 2015, so unless you’re still using a Roku device like the Roku LT, Roku HD, Roku 1, Roku 2, or original Roku Streaming Stick — you won’t need to worry.

Supported Roku Devices After June 24th

  • Roku Ultra
  • Roku Premiere and Premiere+
  • Roku Express and Express+
  • Roku 3 and 4
  • Roku 2 (model 4210)
  • Roku Streaming Stick (model 3500 or later)
  • Roku TV
  • 4k Roku TV

Just last week, Hulu announced an updated interface coming to Roku users over the coming weeks. The redesign will see improved navigation and discovery on content.
