Netflix to Stage First Comedy Festival, Amy Schumer and Dave Chappelle Among Headliners
Netflix is debuting its first Netflix Is a Joke Festival to be held in Los Angeles on April 27-May 3. The streamer is also recording the show to air later this year.
Some of the top names scheduled include Ali Wong, Amy Schumer, Bill Burr, Dave Chappelle, Jamie Foxx, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, Kevin Hart and Martin Lawrence.
The Joke Festival will be performed in various venues throughout Los Angles.
Chappelle will appear at the Hollywood Bowl, while LBGTQ+ comedians, such as Wanda Sykes, Rosie O’Donnell and Margaret Cho, will take the stage at the Greek Theatre.
“The Hall,” at the Ace Hotel, will pay tribute to late comedy stars, such as Robin Williams, Richard Pryor, Joan Rivers and trailblazer George Carlin.
Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, called the festival “a unique celebration of the art of comedy, and the role it plays in reflecting our lives and defining culture. It’s a chance for comedy lovers to come together and see their favorite artists as well as discover new ones.”
