Pluto TV Launches Original 'One Day at a Time' Channel After Reboot Premieres on ViacomCBS' Pop TV

The original “One Day at a Time” series has found a home on Pluto TV. The free, ad-supported streaming service has launched a 24/7 streaming channel for the classic series, which originally ran from 1975 to 1984. The channel (421), which launched on March 24, followed the season four premiere of the show’s reboot on ViacomCBS’ Pop TV.

Last June, the new version of “One Day at a Time” made headlines when it became the first series to move from a streaming service to a cable network. The show was canceled by Netflix and then later picked up by Pop TV after fans created a #SaveODAAT petition online.

Prior to going to Pop TV, CBS All Access was speculated to have been a top contender for the show, however, it seems Sony Pictures, the shows production studio, was bound in a contractual clause with Netflix that blocked the studio from selling “One Day at a Time” to another streaming service for several years.

Although the first three seasons remain on Netflix, Pop TV acquired linear rights, so they’re able to rerun the show on the cable network. Season four and those that follow will be branded as Pop TV originals moving forward. The show, which follows a Latinx family and stars Rita Moreno and Justina Machado, was canceled by Netflix last May.
