Quibi Adds True Crime And Talk Shows, Farrelly Bros. Get Greenlit For ‘The Now’ Series

Quibi announced its latest show: “Last Looks.” The true-crime series examines the underbelly of the glamorous but often-treacherous fashion industry. Refinery29, a media site for millennial women, is producing this piercing look at the dark side of glamour.

“Last Looks” is expected to bring a strong feminist sensibility to its subject, examining both the crime and its broader societal implications.

The company also confirmed that Dave Franco will star in its officially ordered Farrelly Bros. comedy “The Now.” Peter and Bobby Farrelly will direct and Peter, who won an Oscar for “Green Book,” will co-write the Anonymous Content project.
The series is about a suicidal man who discovers he has no choice but to live in the present.

The short-form mobile streamer, set to debut in April 2020, is adding shows at an astounding pace.

Quibi also announced it’s entering the talk-show genre with a catch: “Potty Talk,” a celebrity talk show hosted by fashion designer Alexander Wang, is set in the bathroom. “Being given the opportunity to recontextualize the talk-show format is a dream,” Wang told The Hollywood Reporter. “Pushing the boundaries on an institutionalized model is something I’m always up for.”

The “Potty Talk” presenter will dish with stars in stalls during A-list entertainment events.

Yesterday, the Jeffrey Katzenberg-Meg Whitman-led Quibi reported that rapper Offset of Migos is hosting the car show “Skrrt With Offset,” highlighting his automotive passions as he drives well-known pop-culture passengers.

Quibi, which already has alliances with NBC, Telemundo and The Dodo, has a roster of Hollywood heavyweights in its content stable. They include directors Steven Spielberg’s “After Dark,” Sam Raimi’s “50 States of Fright.” Anna Kendrick will star in the comedy “Dummy,” while the sci-fi drama “Don’t Look Deeper” stars Emily Mortimer and Don Cheadle.

The company said it plans to spend $1.1 billion on commissioning original content in its first year, totaling 7,000 short-form episodes.
