Roku Now Built-In 25% of Newly Sold Smart TVs, Announces Partnership with Westinghouse

Today, Roku released the news that they will partner with Westinghouse Electronics to produce 4K TVs. This comes as the company has built strong growth on their Roku Smart TV platform — with partnerships with TCL, Insignia, Sharp, Hisense, Hitachi, RCA, Philips, element, and JVC.

“The Roku TV licensing program has seen a lot of momentum. During the first nine months of 2018 more than one in four smart TVs sold in the U.S. were Roku TVs.”

Expect HD Westinghouse Roku TV models in the first half of 2019, and 4K models later in the year.

Westinghouse previously worked with Amazon to build the first generation of Amazon Fire TVs. According to the press release, Westinghouse will now work on creating efficient and eco-friendly displays while using the Roku platform as the core software platform. Customers will also get access to The Roku Channel. The on-demand network includes 10,000+ free ad-supported movies and TV episodes and soon will allow customers to browse, search, and watch premium subscriptions.

Roku also sells seven types of devices compatible with most TVs, including the Roku Ultra and the Roku Streaming Stick+ (which we recommend).

They have become of ne of the most popular streaming devices available to consumers today due to their wide-reaching compatibility with most services and their easy search capability across services. All Roku devices work with Live TV Streaming Services like PlayStation Vue, Fubo, Hulu Live TV, YouTube TV, as well as on-demand streaming services like Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon Prime Video.
