Apple TV+ Greenlights Second Season of ‘Little America’ Before Official Premiere

Apple TV+ has renewed its “Little America” series for a second season — before its Jan. 17 debut.

The immigrant anthology show is based on true stories from Epic Magazine. Season one, which will launch in its entirety, includes eight 30-minute vignettes, each from a different country.

The series is written by Lee Eisenberg (“The Office”) and Oscar-nominated husband-and-wife team Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon (“The Big Sick”). Eisenberg will also act as an executive producer and showrunner.

All the “Little America” stories explore people tackling serious issues: For example, in “The Manager,” a 12-year-old runs his parents’ Utah motel after they are deported to India. “The Son” tells the story of a gay man who escapes Syria. “The Baker” profiles Beatrice, sent from Uganda to college in America, who tries to earn money by selling chocolate-chip cookies from a basket on her head. “The Jaguar” follows Marisol, an undocumented Mexican teen, as she plays competitive squash.

“ ‘Little America’ episodes are meant to evoke emotions that are as unique as each immigrant’s experience in this country,” Gordon and Nanjiani told Deadline.
