“Loki,” which is being slated for a 2021 release, stars Tom Hiddleston as the trickster god. Owen Wilson and Sophia Di Martino are part of the cast.
However, details about Mbatha-Raw’s Marvel Comics character have not been released.
The British actress was recently featured in Apple TV’s “The Morning Show” and voiced a role in Netflix’s “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.” In films, she starred in “Motherless Brooklyn,” “A Wrinkle in Time” and “The Cloverfield Paradox,” among other projects.
Variety noted that while no “Loki” plot points have been revealed, the show will “reportedly feature the master of magic popping up at different times in human history and influencing major events. He was last seen absconding with one of the Infinity Stones during “Avengers: Endgame.”
Michael Waldron (“Rage,” “Oz”) serves as writer- executive producer on “Loki” with Kate Herron (“Elizabeth: Our Queen”) set to direct all episodes and executive produce.
There are several limited series featuring Marvel characters slated for Disney+, including “Ms. Marvel,” Marvel’s first Muslim superhero, “Hawkeye,” “Falcon and Winter Soldier,” “She-Hulk,” “Moon Knight” and “WandaVision.”
Mbatha-Raw will be next appear in the British comedy-drama “Misbehavior” with Keira Knightly and “Come Away” starring opposite Angelina Jolie.
