After Price Hike, Some Existing fuboTV Customers Get Third Stream & 500 Hour DVR Free for a Year

Last week, Fubo announced that they had increased the price of the base Fubo plan to $55 a month (was $45). This is the third price hike and the largest by Fubo. In September 2017, when they added MSG/MSG+, they raised pricing from $34.99 to $39.99 in most markets and $44.99 in New York metro area. Then, in February 2018, they updated pricing to $44.99 in all markets.

Today, they began notifying existing customers of the $10 increase, with the changes taking effect on their next billing cycle after April 30th. Some subscribers in the email, were informed that they would receive Cloud DVR Plus (500 Hour Cloud DVR) and Family Share (Third Stream) for the next year at no additional cost.

Hi there,

Last year we added AMC, TBS, TNT, CNN, Cartoon Network and dozens of other national and regional channels to your fuboTV subscription.

Coming this May, you’ll get even more top shows and movies with the additions of MTV, Comedy Central, BET, CMT, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., VH1, Paramount Network and TV Land.

As a thank you for being a loyal fuboTV subscriber we’re also giving you a FREE year of access to our popular feature upgrades: Cloud DVR Plus, which boosts your Cloud DVR space from 30 hours to 500 hours, and Family Share, which lets you stream fuboTV on three devices at the same time. That’s over $190 value.*

To help us bring you these new channels, and to continue delivering premium features like live sports in 4K, the price of your fuboTV base plan will be increasing by $10 per month. This will take effect at the start of your next billing cycle after April 30, 2019.

Since the last hike though, they’ve added nearly 20 channels including those from AMC, Turner, and Viacom — which is rumored to launch by the end of next month. As part of the deal, BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Paramount Network, TV Land, and VH1 will be added to the base Fubo plan ($55). With the new channels, Fubo will have 28 of the Top 35 cable channels — the most of any of the Live TV Streaming Services.

This has been a year of price increases by Live TV Streaming Services with the fattening of bundles and increasing of content costs.

Last March, YouTube TV increased their pricing from $35 to $40 a month, but grandfathered existing users at their current price. A few months later, Sling TV raised the price of their Sling Orange plan from $20 to $25, while PlayStation Vue increased all plans by $5 a month — starting at $45.

In February, after adding networks from Discovery, Hulu Live TV increased the price of their service from $40 to $45. And last month, DIRECTV NOW, discontinued their existing plans — launching 2 new plans starting at $50 a month (up from $40), without channels from A&E, AMC, Viacom, and Discovery.
