HBO Max Just Launched, But They’re Already Losing Most of Their DC Movies on July 1st

If you signed up for HBO Max to stream DC movies, you better start bingeing. Although it just launched on May 27th, HBO Max will be losing nearly all of the live-action DC films available to “Max” streamers on July 1st.

In total, HBO Max has 31 DC movies (live-action and animated), with 25 of them available exclusively to HBO Max subscribers.

Of those, there are 17 live-action DC films available on HBO Max, with 13 of them considered “Max” exclusive content. Of those, Superwoman (1984) is the only live-action DC film that was available at launch that will still be on the service after July 1st.

Some of those disappearing on July 1st will be Batman, Batman Forever, Batman Returns, and Batman & Robin, as well as newer films like Justice League, Suicide Squad, and Wonder Woman. Leaving both HBO and HBO Max on June 9th is Teen Titans Go! to the Movies.

While it’s not a surprise to see content leave a streaming service due to content licensing, it is when its a core section of a newly launched one. One of the major selling points of HBO Max is more content than HBO, but at least for DC fans, there won’t be a big difference between what is available on HBO and HBO Max.

Both HBO and HBO Max subscribers will still be able to watch Aquaman, Green Lantern, Joker, Shazam!, and original series Watchman. HBO Max subscribers can still access Doom Patrol and Supergirl.

The biggest difference will be additional animated content like Teen Titans, Lego: Batman The Movie: DC Super Heroes Unite, Batman vs. Robin.
