STIRR Commemorates 1-Year Anniversary With New Election Channel, and Syndicated Shows Like Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Judge Judy, & Ellen
Sinclair Group’s free, ad-supported OTT streaming service STIRR is bringing in new content for their one-year anniversary today. The company announced the launch of 2020 Live, a new channel for this year’s election coverage.
The new channel, which rolls out this week, will offer “a continuous stream of live election coverage, giving viewers live access to daily campaign event feeds from across the country, including town hall meetings and stump speeches. This coverage will be presented without any commentary, giving viewers the most transparent, bias-free view into the campaign trail,” the company stated.
In addition to 2020 Live, STIRR will also offer post-broadcast on-demand viewing of shows that originally aired on a Sinclair-owned network. Customers will be able to stream hits shows such as “Judge Judy,” “Dr. Phil,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “Wheel of Fortune,” “Jeopardy” and many more.
Since launching last year, STIRR offers audiences 100 linear channels and more than 5,000 hours of video-on-demand (VOD) content for free. In October, the service hit 1.3 million downloads. Today, the service announced it “now exceeds 1.6 million downloads.” This builds upon an announcement last July that STIRR had hit the 1 million download mark, noting viewers on average watched the channel twice a week.
