Just in Time for Game of Thrones, You Can Now Subscribe to HBO on The Roku Channel

In January, Roku launched their Amazon Channels competitor with partners including Showtime, Starz, EPIX. Just in time for the final season of Game of Thrones, Roku has announced that HBO is now available via Premium subscriptions on The Roku Channel for $14.99 a month after a 7-Day Free Trial.

You can access premium subscriptions by navigating to The Roku Channel, selecting the Premium Subscriptions row, and finding the tile of your favorite service. Users can access 25+ premium partners including: HBO, Showtime, Starz, EPIX, Lifetime Movie Club, Smithsonian Channel Plus, Tastemade, and more. All of you subscriptions can be managed in the My Account section on your Roku and are bundled in one-monthly bill.

Just last month, Apple announced that Apple TV Channels would be coming in May, which is similar to Roku Premium Subscriptions and Amazon Channels. The service also includes the ability to subscribe to premium channels and SVOD services like HBO, Showtime, and STARZ.

According to BMO Capital Markets, that Amazon Prime Video Channels grossed $1.7 billion in revenue for the retail giant in 2018, up 150% from last year. It has been reported that Amazon keeps 30% of that, meaning they will net more than $500 million from their streaming partners.
