You Will Get 1-Year of Apple TV+ Free with the Purchase of a New Apple Device, This is How It Works

After months of waiting and some speculation, yesterday Apple announced that they will be launching Apple TV+ on November 1 in over 100 countries. While the service will be $4.99 per month for up to 6 streamers, they are including one-year of service with the purchase of a new iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or Apple TV.

According to Apple, customers will have 3 months after they activate a device to activate their free subscription. If you buy multiple devices, you won’t be able to stack the offer for multiple years of free service. After the year expires, the plan will automatically renew at the $4.99 a month price.

The least expensive way to take advantage of the offer is to buy the Apple TV HD for $149 or Apple TV 4K for $179. If you are looking for a mobile device, the least expensive option is the iPod Touch at $199. However, with the value of Apple TV+ being $4.99 a month ($60 a year), with no risk of cancellation, it doesn’t make sense to buy a new device just to take advantage of the offer.

If you were considering a high-end Roku or Android TV like NVIDIA SHIELD, the fact that you get Apple TV+ included (at least for the first year), of your Apple TV is appealing.

At launch, the service will include shows like The Morning Show starring Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carrell, See with Jason Momoa, as well as For All Mankind a show by Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica writer Ronald D. Moore.

Over the next year, they will bring shows like Amazing Stories by Steven Spielberg, Little America by Kumail Nanjiani, Helpsters by Sesame Street Workshops, Little Voice by J.J. Abrams & Sara Bareilles, and Oprah’s Book Club by Oprah Winfrey.

Apple has spared no expense when it comes to original content. Reports came out last month saying the company upped their budget from $1 billion to $6 billion—doling out $300 million on the first two seasons of The Morning Show.
