Tyler Perry’s BET+ Reaches 1 Million Subscribers In Under A Year

BET+ is almost a year old — and it counts 1 million subscribers, reports Deadline.

The SVOD streamer, which kicked off in September 2019, is a joint venture between Tyler Perry Studios and the BET Networks. It offers original TV series and films, as well as content from BET’s inventory.

Two of its original TV shows — Tracey Oliver’s “First Wives Club” and “Bigger” — have been greenlit for a second season.

The streamer will also host “Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Farewell Play” on August 27, when he says goodbye to his famous character.

However, starting today, “The Virtual Madea Museum” launches on BET+ for a limited time. The digital exhibition charts Madea’s legacy and cultural influence. Mabel “Madea” Earlene Simmons debuted in 1999 in Perry’s stage play “I Can Do Bad All By Myself.” The museum will also sell limited-edition memorabilia.

Although a CBS All Access relaunch is planned for 2021, Showtime, BET+ and Noggin will not be add-ons to the revamped platform, according to ViacomCBS. Chief Digital Officer Marc Debevoise says management wants All Access to be a distinct entity, yet a name that can “aggregate those brands for users.”

While there will be some original BET and Noggin inventory on CBS All Access, BET+ remains a standalone streamer.
