Disney Extends Deal with Amazon to Stream Titles in Latin America, Hinting to October 2020 Launch for Disney+

Those in Latin America may have to wait a little longer for Disney+. According to Variety, Disney has extended their agreement with Disney to stream their recent catalog of films until September 2020. The deal reportedly includes all “Toy Story” films, as well as “The Lion King” and “Avengers: Endgame” for Amazon Prime Video.

While Disney+ will be released in the U.S., Canada, and Netherlands on November 12th, followed by Australia and New Zealand the next week, the exact dates of the rest of the rollouts is unknown. At Disney’s Investor Day in April, the company shared that Western Europe will see the product roll-out starting in late 2019, reaching the entire region by early 2020. Asia-Pacific will launch similarly in late 2019, but will take the full two years to reach the entire market. Eastern Europe & Latin America will see the product launch in Fall 2020, rolling out over the following year.

Given that Disney’s deal with Amazon expires in Fall 2020, an October 2020 launch for Disney+ in Latin America seems likely. The company also has plans to bring ESPN+ to the region, which might come earlier than the Disney+ launch.
