‘Family Guy’ Seth MacFarlane Seals $200 Million Deal With NBCU, Will Create Content for Peacock
Seth MacFarlane and his Fuzzy Door Productions signed a $200 million, five-year deal with NBCU Content Studios, Deadline reported.
He will create content for its cable channels and upcoming streamer Peacock, which launches in April.
Various content genres could be in the upcoming NBCU mix, including political dramas, musical and historic anthologies. MacFarlane was reportedly in talks with Netflix, Amazon and Disney before signing with NBCU, which outbid Fox for his services.
MacFarlane, who has been at Fox for 20 years, ended his contract in June 2019, though he is expected to continue his association with the five-time Emmy-winning “Family Guy.”
The versatile producer is also responsible for “American Dad,” launched on Fox in 2005, and the movies “Ted,” “Ted 2” and “A Million Ways to Die in the West,” which earned $800 million at the box office.
While MacFarlane is not expected to deliver animated shows to NBCU, he remains free to negotiate with any studio regarding future films.
