Today, at Warner Media Day, the company has revealed that the streaming service will be launching on May 2020 for $14.99. During the presentation, they went through their apps to show off the user experience for the first time. Here is a first look including the home screen, show detail page, user profiles, offline downloads, and kids mode.
Home Screen
HBO Max will have carousel on top. When you scroll you will see collections of episodes like content from Friends, as well as tiles to choose from each of the HBO Max brands.
Watch List
When you go to the detail page of a show, you can add it to a watch list to view it later.
User Profiles
HBO Max will allow you to create user profiles for the entire family. A unique feature is they will let you create temporary joint profiles which will make recommendations for both adults and kids — and won’t affect the personalization of your own profile.
Kid Profiles
HBO Max will allow you to set content restrictions for your kids. The profiles themselves will have a custom experience that shows personalized content for your kids.
Follow Users
HBO Max will allow you to follow users, including celebrities on the platform — and see their public watchlist. There will even be video clips explaining why they like a movie.
Offline Downloads
WarnerMedia confirmed that they will be offering Offline Downloads on HBO Max on their mobile devices. They didn’t disclose limits of the number of devices or number of simultaneous streams.
