More About Welcome to the Blumhouse

Though the thrillers in Welcome to the Blumhouse are thematically similar, each story is self-contained. Sometimes family and love mean redemption, loyalty, and bravery; other times they mean destruction, betrayal, and death. ‘Black As Night’ and ‘Bingo Hall’ are the first two episodes (both available for viewing on October 1). ‘Black as Night’ is an action-horror hybrid similar to Aliens, starring Asjha Cooper, Fabrizio Guido, Keith David, Craig Tate, Mason Beauchamp, and Frankie Smith. When the drug-addicted mother of 15-year old Shawna (Cooper) is killed by vampires, the young teen becomes embroiled in a centuries-old conflict between rival factions of the undead. Conveyed with a strong social conscience and a humor more pointed than Dracula’s fangs, it’s an all-out war to see who can claim New Orleans as their home.

Similarly, ‘Bingo Hell’ straddles the line between horror and humor, telling an original story with a very unusual premise. Lupita (Adriana Barraza) is a woman in her sixties, and her neighborhood activism is personified in her community’s weekly bingo games. When Mr. Big (Richard Brake) takes over her bingo hall, she rallies her elderly friends to fight back … until they start showing up grotesquely murdered. A nightmarish horror is lurking in the small low-income town, and every cry of ‘Bingo!’ sheds more blood.
