Netflix Announces ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ Return Date, Final Six Episodes Will Drop Oct. 19

Netflix has heeded the cries of fans all over and the streaming service is, once again, here to deliver. According to TV Line, Netflix announced the return of their hit show “Unsolved Mysteries.” The final six episodes of the first season are slated to premiere on the platform on Oct. 19.

The series, which premiered on Netflix on July 1, is a reboot of the original version, which aired for 14 seasons, beginning in 1987 until 2010. The series was then narrated by Robert Stack.

While Netflix decided to follow the old format of tracking “unexplained disappearances, tragic events and bizarre occurrences,” they decided to exclude a host in the reboot, citing the fact that Stack would be a hard act to follow. He passed away in 2003.

Terry Dunn Meurer served as the showrunner on the 2020 version of the show. Both she and John Cosgrove are executive producers on the Netflix series, along with Shawn Levy.

Each episode, like the original, focuses on one outstanding case. Murders, paranormal encounters, possible UFO abductions are explored.

Cosgrove and Meurer stated: “We regarded ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ as a ‘mystery’ show, not a ‘true crime’ show. When choosing cases, we’ve always looked for diversity in races, ages, locations and eras. We’ve covered such classic mysteries as Bigfoot, and high-profile, historic crimes ranging from the Black Dahlia murder to the Kennedy assassinations.”
