Netflix Taps ‘Big Bang Theory’ Co-Creator for Future Shows

TV veteran Bill Prady has signed a first-look deal with Netflix.

Prady, co-creator of the Emmy-winning “The Big Bang Theory,” which ended last year after 12 seasons, was also the writer-executive producer of “Gilmore Girls” and “Dharma & Greg.”

Now, Netflix wants Prady to develop scripted shows, including drama, fantasy and comedy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The streamer gets the right of first refusal before any concept is pitched elsewhere.

“Their approach to television and respect for the viewer allow for the kind of in-depth storytelling I have long been a fan of,” Prady said of Netflix: He added he was excited to “find and champion new voices with new visions.”

Best known for co-creating “Big Bang Theory” with Chuck Lorre, Prady’s quirky sitcom will be streamed on the upcoming HBO Max. He is also a consulting producer on “Young Sheldon,” a prequel of “Bang’s” key character.

Noting Prady’s contribution to television, Channing Dungey, Netflix’s vice president of original content, called him a “renowned storyteller, and with ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ he created characters who have defined a generation and will transcend the test of time.”
