New Live Streaming Service Vidgo Begins Testing Roku Channel

This week, we profiled Vidgo, a new Live TV Streaming Service which soft launched with a $15 skinny bundle. Their “early adopter” plan includes channels from A+E, Discovery, Hallmark, & Viacom, but will morph in a full featured $40-50 plan with news, locals, and live sports when they officially launch.

Those who sign-up for their early adopter program will be able to keep the plan with the current bundle or upgrade to their official plans when they formally launch next month.

Currently, the service has apps on Apple TV, Fire TV, Android TV, iOS, and Android — but now the company has begun testing a Roku app leading up to launch. While the app isn’t publicly available in the Roku Store, it can be added as a private channel with the following link.

While the app is still working out the kinks, the company hopes to have their Roku Channel launched by the time they launch their official plans. The company has already reached deals with Disney, Fox, and the NFL meaning that channels like ABC, ESPN, Disney Channel, FOX, FS1, Big Ten Network, NFL Network, and NFL RedZone will be joining A+E, Discovery, Hallmark, & Viacom in their more traditional TV plan.

Vidgo’s Roku App looks similar to that on other platforms with a traditional grid guide. When you tap into a channel, you can watch a live stream, and similar to other service tap up/down to see a “mini guide” — so you can keep watching while you browse.
