NVIDIA SHIELD, the Android TV streaming device that has become a favorite of cord cutters, has added support for Amazon Music.
Amazon Music joins Google Play Music, Spotify, and Pandora which already were supported on NVIDIA SHIELD. The upgrade, known as SHIELD Experience Software Upgrade 7.2, will automatically include Amazon Music or can be downloaded from Google Play.
If you are not an Amazon Music subscriber, you can try it for 3 months for $0.99.
They also announced that they have dropped the price of the SHIELD TV by $30 until December 24. You can get an additional 5% off by clipping a coupon on the Amazon product page.
- SHIELD TV Standard Edition (with remote): $149 (normally $179)
- SHIELD TV Gaming Edition (with remote and controller): $169 (normally $199)
- SHIELD TV Smart Home Edition (with remote and SmartThings Link): $189.98 (normally $219)
NVIDIA has been known to aggressively push software updates for the device. In September, they announced the 20th software upgrade for the SHIELD since its launch in 2015.
Other enhancements in the software upgrade include support for 5.1 audio on YouTube, customizable quick settings, automatic software updates, SMBv3 support, and a security patch.
