Report: Season 3 of ‘The Mandalorian’ in Pre-Production at Disney Plus

Pre-production has begun on season three of Disney+’s hit series “The Mandalorian,” Variety reports. Sources told the trade magazine creator Jon Favreau has been scripting season 3 and the art department, led by Lucasfilm vice president and executive creative director Doug Chiang, has been creating concepts “for the past few weeks.”

That’s good news for fans, as reports of a third season were announced shortly after season 2 filming ended. “The Mandalorian” finished production in early March, before stay-at-home orders were issued and production halted worldwide.

Season 1 ended with Mando and Baby Yoda searching for the Child’s home planet. There are no details for season 2, save that the evil Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) has made an appearance. Also that Rosario Dawson (“Briarpatch”) will have a guest role as Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker’s apprentice and a key character from the animated “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” series.

“The Mandalorian” was the first “Star Wars” series to launch on Disney+ and it’s success helped propel the streamer to 50 million subscribers as of April 8.

Disney, which distributes the “Star Wars” franchise, has two upcoming projects: an Obi-Wan Kenobi series with Ewan McGregor and a Cassian Andor series with Diego Luna.
