ViacomCBS to Launch Pluto TV in Latin America in March

ViacomCBS is expanding Pluto TV’s reach as the company will launch the ad-supported service in Latin America come March. Pluto TV will offer content in Spanish and Portuguese and will launch with 24 channels, with the goal to get to 100 by end of the year. The company also revealed they will launch Pluto TV Brazil at the end of 2020.

“I think Latin America is the perfect market for this product,” Pierluigi Gazzolo, president of studios and OTT for ViacomCBS Networks International told Reuters. “You have the (users) who have pay-TV, who are consuming more and more and are going to be able to consume it, as well as those who have never been able to pay.”

Channels offered in Latin America will include Pluto TV Cine Estelar, Pluto TV Cine Acción, Pluto TV Cine Drama, Pluto TV Cine Comedia, Pluto TV Cine Terror, Pluto TV Series, Telefe Clásico, MTV Vintage, Nick Pluto TV, Nick Jr. Pluto TV, Pluto TV Junior, Pluto TV Kids, Pluto TV Anime, Pluto TV Deportes, Pluto TV Cocina and Pluto TV Viajes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Last July, Viacom (prior to the merger with CBS) announced the launch of Pluto TV Latino, a new category on the platform featuring 11 linear Spanish and Portuguese-language channels. Pluto TV Latino was the first offering of its kind on a major free, ad-supported OTT service.

Across the 11 channels, Pluto TV Latino offers movies, comedy, music, true crime, reality, sports and telenovelas. Three movie-themed channels have blockbuster and native Spanish-language films. Genre-specific channels from MTV, Comedy Central, Telemundo, Combate World and Lucha Libre feature library collections, music specials, comedies, crime series, telenovelas and more. Programming was made available in native Spanish-speaking as well as dubbed versions.

In October, they added another 11 channels — Dog, el Cazarrecompensas, Nick Latino, Nick Jr. Latino, Pluto TV Cine Acción, Pluto TV Cine Terror, Spike Aventura, Pluto TV Naturaleza, Pluto TV Cocina, Pluto TV Mundo, Pluto TV Realities en Español and Pluto TV 007 en Español.
