Apple TV+ Wins Viewers With Excellent Streaming Video Quality

While Apple TV+ content was met with some trepidation, the streaming service’s 4K quality has gotten rave reviews across the board. With Apple TV+ offering 4K HDR video and Dolby Atmos sound, even users who are unsure of the platform’s programs cannot deny its streaming quality.

Despite launching merely days ago, FlatpanelsHD editor-in-chief Rasmus Larsen said in a forum post that Apple TV+ shows have the highest streaming quality for 4K across all the services on the market right now and eclipse most iTunes movies in bit rates, according to 9to5Mac.

See, for example, reaches highs of 41 Mbps with an average bitrate of 29 Mbps when streaming using an Apple TV 4K, 9to5Mac reports. Snoopy, a 2D cartoon with a relatively limited color palette, recorded a 13Mbps average.

Though maximum quality is a huge advantage, the lack of a Low Data Mode can become problematic in foreign countries such as India, where mobile data is more common than home broadband. As it is today, the streaming service can blow through data quickly since there’s no way to force a device to use a lower quality stream at all times.
