Apple TV+ is revisiting the 1980s, specifically Jim Henson’s “Fraggle Rock.” The show, which focused on the adventures of the furry Fraggles who lived in magical caves, is back.
But it carries a distinctly modern twist.
The new short-form series, “Fraggle Rock: Rock On!,” also from the Henson Company, has just debuted an episode. New ones appear every Tuesday, three-to-five minutes in length.
Plus, given the current stay-at-home restrictions, the production team shoots the show with an iPhone 11. That may explain why the mini-episodes are focusing on social distancing. Also, why the Fraggles have to get creative about making music.
Other Apple TV+ kid-oriented fare includes “Ghostwriter” and “Snoopy in Space.”
Coming May 29 to the streamer is the animated musical comedy “Central Park.” The Tillerman family — Owen, the park manager, Paige, his journalist wife, and their two kids — square off against hotel heiress Bitsy Brandenham, who wants to turn the famed park into condos.
On April 3, Apple TV released “Home Before Dark,” inspired by 9-year-old Hilde Lysiak, who reported on a murder in a small Pennsylvania town. There, she discovers a cold case everyone has tried to bury.
The streamer is $5/month.
