Buzzer Officially Launches, Unveils New Features Including NBA League Pass Integration

Buzzer chief Bo Han put it best on his Twitter account — today is official day 1 for Buzzer, and it’s got some new tricks up its sleeve. Han took to Twitter to make the announcement:

Among the new features are Picture-in-Picture, where users can watch clips while simultaneously chatting with their friends in a group chat or posting to social media, and an upcoming feature that will allow users to integrate their NBA League Pass login with their Buzzer accounts, giving users free access to NBA clips thanks to their LP subscription.

Buzzer allows fans to pay 99 cents per 10 minutes of live game footage or $2 a quarter, which may be an attractive option for people who don’t want to be tied to a month-long subscription just to watch a white-knuckle fourth quarter comeback every once in a while.

Buzzer has existing deals with the WNBA, NHL, and the PGA Tour, but the NBA lends itself well to the platform’s bite-sized clips, which could be why Buzzer is going all-in on its latest venture. Fast breaks, big jams, devastating blocks, and wicked cross-ups make for great clips (as the thousands upon thousands of clip show NBA channels that exist on YouTube & TikTok will tell you.)

And studies have shown that sports fans, especially younger sports fans, are watching less of the action but love interacting with others while watching. Han thinks his platform is going to be a way for sports fans to have their cake and eat it too. “Live sports viewership has recently been declining because we’ve made it difficult for fans, especially young fans, to discover and watch,” Han said. “Right now, at a pivotal moment for the sports industry, our nation, and our world, live sports can build community in a way we’ve never needed more, and our goal is to be one of the solutions.”

Buzzer is available to download on iOS and Android devices today.
